It's September. We've been homeschooling for about a month now. This is our fourth year homeschooling but it was by far our hardest start to a year. I know you felt it. I sure did. I think a lot of it had to do with all of the changes we have had this year. And I think even more of it had to do with the fact that I have felt completely overwhelmed. None of that was your fault but you have helped make things so much easier for me by working as hard as you have! I am so proud of you! Your handwriting has gotten so good so quickly, you are reading everything you can get your hands on and you are spelling words like appropriate, considerate and drought - which kind of blows my mind. Thank you for all of your hard work, for your wonderful sense of humor that keeps me smiling and for your patience with your sisters. I love you, baby. You're the best boy I know. Love, Mom

Letters to my Children (Ryver - September 2016)
I came across a photo project called, "Letters to my children." and I just loved the idea behind it. Once a month just snap a few shots of your child and write to them. Write what you were thinking about while photographing them. Write what's been going on in your lives at that time. Write them words of advice. Whatever you choose. So, here we go... my first of many letters.
Dear Ryver,
It's September. We've been homeschooling for about a month now. This is our fourth year homeschooling but it was by far our hardest start to a year. I know you felt it. I sure did. Thank you for all of your hard work, for your wonderful sense of humor that keeps me smiling and for your patience with your sisters. I love you, baby. You're the best boy I know. Love, Mom

Up, up and away!
One of the things that I have missed most in the years that we lived outside of Colorado is the hot air balloons over Labor Day weekend. I can remember waking up before the sunrise as a little girl and driving into "town" to watch the balloons lift off. I remember how breathtaking it was. My awe of it hasn't changed much now that I am an adult - if anything I love it even more now that I get to experience it with my children. As is the tradition my family woke up an hour and a half before sunrise - got dressed in cozy hoodies and jeans, picked up some donuts and went to watch 60+ hot air balloons lift. This year was especially fun since this was the first year for my girls to see it. It was also extra fun because my son was able to help set up one of the hot air balloons which he just loved. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.

The Junkermann Wedding
I haven't updated the blog in entirely too long. My family left San Diego in April and spent two months traveling around the country - we visited 38 states and drove close to 12,000 miles. We arrived to our home in Colorado in the middle of June and immediately jumped into a major home renovation. Thankfully things are starting to slow down a bit and we are beginning to get into a rhythm. Which brings me back to this, my first blog in 6 months! I couldn't be more excited to come back with photos of one of the most beautiful couples I have had the pleasure of photographing. Hannah and Ian had a fabulous wedding in July and it was my honor to capture it for them. Between this special couple, their wonderful families and the most fabulous bridal party ever, the entire day was so much fun! I hope that you enjoy this extended peek into their big day!
Congratulations, Ian and Hannah - I wish you all the best and thank you so much for choosing me to be a part of this time in your lives!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Junkermann!
